Permanent Full-Time Adult Wellness Counsellor

Six Step Competitive Salary Grid: $65,374.40 - $77,641.20

Reporting directly to the Wellness Counselling Supervisor, the Wellness Counsellor will provide counselling support for clients seeking mental health and addictions support. They provide referrals to specialized treatment in mental health and addictions when needed. The Wellness Counsellor plans and delivers outcome-effective clinical case coordination and counselling, intervention prevention, advocacy, community action, program leadership, and connecting clients to cultural services and resources, and will possess strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with adults.

Registered Social Worker/Professional Counsellor Role and Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related disciplines; Preference will be given to registered or eligible to register with a professional licensing body such as SASW or FNWACCB

• Assist clients in addressing emotional, psychological, and relationship difficulties, utilizing a range of counselling methods and models.

• Knowledge in both mental health and addiction services.

• Understand trauma and violence-informed services

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learning electronic medical record systems

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of traditional First Nation values, beliefs, language, and healing approaches.

• Ability to adhere to confidentiality guidelines.

• Must have a valid driver’s license.

• Must provide a criminal record with the vulnerable sector.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.
