Battlefords Family Health Centre; located in downtown North Battleford is seeking applications for the home visiting component of the KidsFirst program. Two HOME VISITORs will be recruited for a Permanent Full-Time position.

The KidsFirst program is a provincial initiative, jointly managed by representatives from Ministry of Social Services, Saskatchewan Health Authority, Living Sky School Division, Light of Christ RCSSD, and Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre Inc. KidsFirst offers intensive parenting and early childhood support for families and children, prenatal to age 3.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Home Visiting Supervisor, the HOME VISITOR will provide services to families and expectant mothers within the Battlefords through ongoing, intensive home visiting and by linking families to other existing services in the community. Part of the role will include assisting with the facilitation in early childhood development groups.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

➢ Knowledge and awareness of cultural values and practices within the community

➢ Awareness of and demonstrated ability to relate to families facing multiple challenges relating to parenting

➢ Experience working with children from 0-3 years of age is an asset.

➢ Knowledge of child development and family dynamics (an Early Childhood Worker or Educational Assistant certificate is an asset).

➢ Minimum requirement is a high school diploma

➢ Basic computer skills are required

➢ Good written and oral communication skills

➢ Ability to work in a team environment

➢ Demonstrated maturity and positive attitude

➢ Able to work flexible hours

➢ Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.

➢ Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle during working hours. (Mileage will be compensated.)
