Cultural Facilitator

Program Overview

To provide inclusive and trauma informed care & services, we recognized that we were missing a very vital part to of our vision.  This is now our foundation for our programming, which is the making sure the Nehiyaw way of knowing and perspective is honored in all services and programming provided.

Purpose

The Cultural Facilitator role is to provide culturally based support, advice, assistance & guidance for families. They also support our staff, families, and communities in the development of their own knowledge bundles. The Cultural Facilitator enriches our programs through.

  • Providing a culturally safe space for families and staff
  • Sharing their life experiences, knowledge, and ability to affirm Indigenous ethics and teachings
  • Focuses on and strengthens relationships within and between communities
  • Helps to link culture within the agencies, the systems, and the institutions
  • Teaches people how to work with other community Elders
  • Facilitates the presence of diverse teachings from a variety of other Elders and community leaders.

Goal

For families and children to feel culturally safe in our programming and services.  For staff to have the support to ask questions and to guide programming.
