Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic

Program Overview

The Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic is a partnership between Battlefords Family Health Centre and Saskatchewan Health Authority to provide a team-based addiction service offering counselling, case management, and medical treatment and support for substance use and substance based addiction.  The long-term goal of the program is to create healthy living within a process where the client actively participates.

The RAAM Clinic will provide timely access to people looking to make changes in their substance use and addictions. Care will be provided by a multi-disciplinary team who will work with each person to create a care plan to help them meet their needs and goals. Specific Services include:

  • assessment of substance use disorders;
  • providing trauma-informed short-term counselling around substance use;
  • treatments for opioid use disorder including Methadone, Suboxone, or Sublocade (Opioid Addiction Recovery Services Clinic - OARS)
  • anti-craving medications for alcohol use disorder;
  • connecting individuals to the right community partners for substance use, and social support services;
  • assistance in transitioning care back to primary care providers;
  • connecting individuals to a primary care provider if required;
  • providing training around safe consumption and overdose prevention; and
  • providing take-home Naloxone kits.

New patients or transfers can be done through your current physician, through a counsellor or addictions worker, or on your own.

The RAAM clinic team consists of physicians, case managers and counsellors, registered nurses, outreach and social supports, medical admin staff, and peer outreach.
