Battle RiverTreaty 6 Health Centre is recruiting a

PERMANENT (3DAYS/WEEK) CULTURAL PROGRAM ELDER

Competitive 6Step Salary Range: $39,224.64 - $46,584.72

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

·        Assist families in the Cultural areas of family systems and child rearing. 

·        Work with families and staff to support and increase their knowledge in traditional parenting, teachings, language, and customs. 

·        Work together with the Cultural program in providing educational Cultural workshops. 

·        Provide one on one and group traditional support sessions to the families of the BRT6HC Programs as required. 

·        Teach parents protocols about ceremonies, regarding family roles and responsibilities. 

·        Participate in, as requested, various events held by BRT6HC Programs including but not limited to meetings, conferences, ceremonies, gatherings, trainings.  

·        Assist withtraditional cultural inquiries, as well as helping to prepare for traditionalceremonies. 

·        Experiencedin conducting opening/closing prayers as required.  

·        Work collaboratively with the Cultural Program Manager. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Knowledge of BRT6HC Services. 

  • Knowledge and practice of proper protocol around use of Elders and ceremonies. 
  • Fluent in the understanding and speaking of Cree.  
  • Experience and knowledge in family systems and child rearing. 
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in the picking and use of various traditional Medicines. 
  • Experienced and knowledgeable of the customs and protocols of various First 

Nations Ceremonies. 

  • Experienced in working with First Nations people and groups. 
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. 
  • Successful criminal record check with vulnerable sector.
