Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Diploma in accounting or bookkeeping

• Enrolled in a post-secondary diploma program in accounting or bookkeeping combined with several years of experience as a finance or accounting clerk

• Enrolled in a professional accounting program (i.e. Canadian Payroll Association, Aboriginal Finance Officer Association, etc.) is an asset

• Previous work experience with Sage300 (General Ledger, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchase Orders)

• Demonstrates knowledge of the full accounting cycle, excellent problem solver and possess strong communication skills

• Advanced Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office and technological platforms such as Microsoft Teams

• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of traditional Indigenous values, beliefs and healing approaches and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations Cultures

• Incumbent can demonstrate agency values in the work they do daily with BRT6HC First Nations communities, clients, and co-workers

• High degree of confidentiality is essential

• A successful criminal record check and a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Prepare and process biweekly payroll with data entry in Sage300 in coordination with the Human Resource Department

• Prepare and remit payroll deductions to Canada Revenue Agency per CRA timelines

• Ensure all payroll related filings are prepared and submitted to government related agencies with government timelines

(i.e. Record of Employment, T$, T4 summary, T4A, and T4A Summary

• Updating and maintaining employee payroll profiles

• Maintain files for funding agreements/amendments and ensuring the funding is recorded and reconciled

• Keep records of all capital assets purchased, sold and disposed

• Keep records and schedule of prepaid purchases throughout the fiscal year

• Assist in annual year end and audit preparation, collaborating with auditors as necessary

• Support the Finance Manager and Leadership with projects and tasks when required and other duties as assigned

• Support the monthly finance statement cycle including reconciliations (bank, petty cash, sub-ledgers, Intercompany

accounts) and account and budget analysis

• Prepare and input journal entries

• Prepare and file all applicable goods and service tax rebates per CRA timelines
