Qualifications

• Minimum requirement is an Early Childhood Education Certification and/or equivalent experience.

• Knowledge and awareness of cultural values and practices within the community

• Awareness of and demonstrated ability to relate to families facing multiple challenges relating to parenting.

• Experience in children’s programming or services

• An understanding of adult education principles and family dynamics

• An ability to demonstrate energy and enthusiasm while working with families and for the program in general.

• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, and community service agencies.

• Must be willing to take direction, be open to new ideas, able to learn and grow with the program, the children, and the parents.

• Previous working experience with First Nations people and demonstrate an understanding of the health and social issues encountered by First Nation people and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.

• Ability to speak and understand Cree is an asset.

• Confidentiality is essential.

• Knowledge and proficiency in computers and programs such as, Microsoft Office.

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and adaptability to balance the changing needs of the organization.

• Ability to work independently, in an initiative-taking manner and effectively as a team player.

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license required with clean drivers abstract.

• A successful criminal record check with vulnerable sector

Six Step Salary Range: Step One: $55,746.60 to Step Six: $66,211.60
