General Accounting Responsibilities and Duties include the following but are not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain accurate records for all daily transactions, code, record, and payment processing.
  • Process and maintain purchase order system, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process and reconcile all expense related reports.
  • Code income receipts, direct deposit, and prepare bank deposits.
  • Prepare and input journal entries.
  • Preparing weekly cheque runs, EFT and direct deposit runs.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Diploma in accounting or bookkeeping or combined with several years of experience as a finance clerk (experience with Sage300 would be considered an asset)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the accounting cycle, excellent problem solver and possess strong communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of traditional First Nation values, beliefs and healing approaches and a willingness to learn about and accept First Nations cultures.
  • Demonstrates agency values in the work they do daily with BRT6HC First Nations communities, clients, and co-workers.
  • High degree of confidentiality is essential.
  • A successful criminal record check and a valid driver’s license
